19 November 2026 is a date that most gamers are looking forward to – the release of Rockstar’s most highly-anticipated game ever, GTA 6.
However, PC loyalists everywhere probably wept when it was revealed that the game’s initial launch would only be for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with no PC version in sight.
This is in part due to the fact GTA’s fanbase is mostly made up of console players rather than PC, despite PC players still representing a key part of Rockstar’s audience.
John Ricchio, a former Rockstar producer, previously said to the Kiwi Talkz podcast that the focus on a console release was not an anti-PC agenda, but a case of the developers having a better understanding of hardware limitations on consoles.
But whatever the reason, it’s time to wipe away those tears. A new report by GamesBeat has stated that the PC version of GTA 6 will be released during the first quarter of 2027, meaning we could be less than six months away from its launch.
This timeline makes sense, especially considering GTA 6 Online is rumoured to be released somewhere in 2027, as revealed by Twitch CEO Dan Clancy in an interview with Bloomberg.
Whether or not Clancy’s statement (or mistake) about GTA multiplayer is true has not been confirmed, but Rockstar hasn’t discredited these claims.
The report from GamesBeat on GTA 6’s PC version is allegedly backed by multiple industry sources "familiar with the studio’s plans", although official Rockstar representatives have refused to comment.
View Green Video on the source websiteThis also marks a much faster PC launch for a new GTA instalment, as GTA 5 fans had to wait for well over a year to get their hands on the PC version.
If this speculation proves true, it means fans can expect to see the PC version of GTA 6 as early as January 2027 and as late as March 2027.
And considering we’ve already waited more than a decade for GTA 6 to be released, throughout the many delays and postponements, these few months will go by in a flash.
