President Bola Tinubu has defended his administration’s economic policies and blamed the opposition for Nigeria’s hunger and poverty, as he sought a fresh mandate at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Kaduna.
Addressing supporters at the rally on Saturday, Tinubu thanked Kaduna residents for their support in the 2023 presidential election and urged them to vote for him again in 2027.
“I come again to thank you for that again, to seek your mandate for the second term, to keep a promise of prosperity, continuity, progress and development,” he said.
Urging supporters to mobilise for the next election, the President called on them to vote for APC candidates at all levels, including governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and state Houses of Assembly.
He also defended the removal of the petrol subsidy, describing it as a policy of the past, while pledging to tackle corruption, fraudulent invoicing, smuggling and dishonesty.
Tinubu thanked APC governors and party leaders for their support, expressing confidence in the development recorded across states governed by the party.
He further promised young Nigerians a better future, saying his administration remained committed to creating opportunities and delivering a more prosperous country.
The Kaduna rally marks the formal take-off of the APC’s campaign for the 2027 presidential election, with Tinubu seeking a second four-year term in office.
