In a Sunday morning post on Facebook, Patricia Farrell, of Prince Albert, Sask, said her son Shaun had died.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our son, Shaun Farrell, has passed away to be with our Heavenly Father,” her post read.
“We want to thank everyone for your love, support, and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”
In a separate post Saturday night, after the training accident, Farrell said Shaun is “in CFB Wainwright taking part in the training there,” asking people to pray for her son.
According to a post earlier this year, Farrell said Shaun had only recently joined the military, expressing pride in her son committing, “to something much larger” than himself.
