Under-fire Tottenham Hotspur coach Roberto De Zerbi will be seeking his first Premier League victory when the Lilywhites host Coventry City in North London on Monday.
Spurs remain winless after six matches in the 2026-27 Premier League season, while Frank Lampard’s Sky Blues are targeting a third consecutive league victory.
Match preview
Tottenham will enter Monday’s fixture as the only team yet to record a Premier League win this season after Fulham and Bournemouth finally ended their winless runs over the weekend.
However, the travelling Spurs supporters left Old Trafford with a sense of relief after Dominic Solanke scored a late equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in their previous outing, following Rodrigo Bentancur’s red card.
De Zerbi’s side remain 20th in the Premier League table, below Bournemouth on goals scored, but there are signs of gradual improvement in their performances.
From a positive perspective, Tottenham have lost only one of their last four Premier League matches and have scored four goals in their last three games after failing to find the net in their previous three against Everton, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United.

However, their inability to convert chances remains a major concern. Tottenham have underperformed their Expected Goals total by 3.9 in the 2026-27 Premier League season, with only Sunderland (-4.3) and Nottingham Forest (-5.1) recording worse figures across the first six gameweeks.
Coventry, meanwhile, scored four goals in 90 minutes against Newcastle United, who suffered another disappointing away defeat at the CBS Arena after previously being thrashed by Leeds United.
Jack Rudoni, Sidiki Cherif, Ellis Simms and Stephen Mfuni all contributed to a remarkable 4-1 victory for the Sky Blues. It was their second consecutive league win after edging Nottingham Forest 1-0 before the international break to secure their first Premier League victory in 25 years.
One of only three Premier League teams to win both gameweeks five and six, alongside Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion, Lampard’s side climbed to 14th place last Monday and begin the next round three points clear of the relegation zone.
Coventry have not recorded three consecutive Premier League victories since February 1998, when they won five matches in a row. However, Tottenham have an identical five-match winning sequence in their recent head-to-head record against the Sky Blues.
Spurs have won their last five meetings with Coventry between 2001 and 2024, most recently securing a 2-1 EFL Cup victory two years ago through late goals from Brennan Johnson and Djed Spence.

Team News
Tottenham manager De Zerbi delivered a double injury setback during his Sunday press conference, confirming that Savio and Lucas Bergvall would miss the match because of new injuries. Savio is dealing with a muscle problem, while Bergvall has a knee issue.
Pedro Porro is also not expected to return from his muscular injury just yet, but Dejan Kulusevski has been cleared to make the bench after spending more than 500 days out with a knee injury.
Mykhaylo Mudryk (ankle), Wilson Odobert (knee) and Xavi Simons (knee) are guaranteed absentees, while Bentancur is suspended for three matches following his red card for headbutting Luke Shaw.
Although Bentancur was not included in the starting lineup against Manchester United, De Zerbi could still make a midfield change by handing James Maddison his first league start of the season at the expense of Conor Gallagher.
For Coventry, Taiwo Awoniyi has completed his three-match suspension and is available again, but the striker faces competition from Cherif and Simms following their goals against Newcastle.
Awoniyi’s return is one of two boosts for Lampard, with Kaine Kesler-Hayden also recovering from a hamstring problem.
However, Luke Woolfenden (knee), Aurele Amenda (calf), Josh Eccles (ankle) and Haji Wright (quadriceps) remain unavailable.
Lampard’s 4-2-3-1 formation proved highly effective against Newcastle, but the former Chelsea midfielder could revert to a three-man central defence, with Mfuni potentially returning to the lineup in place of Ephron Mason-Clark.
Tottenham Hotspur possible starting lineup:
Kinsky; Gray, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Udogie; Fernandes, Tonali; Kudus, Maddison, Marmoush; Solanke.
Coventry City possible starting lineup:
Rushworth; Mfuni, Thomas, Pinnock; Van Ewijk, Grimes, Yirenkyi, Dasilva; Thomas-Asante, Rudoni; Cherif.
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Coventry City
Tottenham’s wastefulness in front of goal remains a concern, although De Zerbi’s side have begun finding the net more regularly in recent matches.
The potential return of Maddison to the starting lineup could improve the hosts’ chance creation and provide the attacking quality needed to break down Coventry’s defence.
However, Coventry’s consecutive victories suggest they will pose a difficult challenge for a Tottenham side still searching for its first league win of the campaign.
