Yasir Tarabichi, MD, who most recently served as chief health AI officer of Cleveland-based MetroHealth System, has joined Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi as executive medical director of AI and digital.
Dr. Tarabichi announced the move in an Oct. 18 LinkedIn post. He began the on-site role in Abu Dhabi in September, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He served as the inaugural chief health AI officer at Cleveland-based MetroHealth from November 2024 to October. In that role, he launched and co-chaired the safety-net system’s interdisciplinary AI Advisory Committee and led deployment of predictive clinical decision support tools.
Those tools included a sepsis early warning system in the emergency department, which was tied to a significant reduction in a composite measure of death and length of stay, and an AI model that cut no-shows by 15% among patients at highest risk of missing appointments, his profile states.
In his LinkedIn post, Dr. Tarabichi said healthcare still runs on “an operating system built for a different era.” He said his new role will focus on building AI-native care from the ground up.
Dr. Tarabichi, a pulmonary and critical care physician, spent 11 years at MetroHealth. He also served as chief medical informatics officer of virtual care company Ovatient and as director of clinical research informatics at MetroHealth.
He previously chaired the American Medical Informatics Association’s Clinical Research Informatics Working Group and served on Epic’s Cosmos Governing Council
