Real Madrid have named Éder Militão in their squad for Sunday’s La Liga meeting with Sevilla, with the defender returning after recovering from an injury. Managing Madrid reported the club’s selection and cautioned that Militão should not be expected to play, although José Mourinho could consider giving him a few late minutes if Los Blancos have built a substantial lead.
His inclusion adds another senior option to the defensive group for the match at the Santiago Bernabéu. ESPN also reported his return to the squad, while stressing that Real Madrid intend to handle his involvement carefully.
Militão returns, but a cautious role is expected
The squad announcement confirms that Militão is available for selection again, but it does not point to an immediate return to the starting line-up. The expectation set out in Managing Madrid’s report is that any involvement would be limited, with a late cameo more plausible if the match situation allows it.
That distinction matters: being named in the group gives Mourinho another defensive option, but it is not confirmation that Militão is ready for a normal match workload. The report leaves the decision open to the flow of the game rather than presenting minutes as part of the plan.
ESPN likewise described his return as a notable addition to the squad and reported that the club are proceeding cautiously. The two accounts agree on the central point: Militão is back among the available players, but his presence does not guarantee an appearance against Sevilla.
Real Madrid’s full squad for Sevilla
Goalkeepers: Thibaut Courtois, Andriy Lunin and Javi Navarro. Defenders: Éder Militão, Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konaté, Marc Cucurella, Álvaro Carreras, Antonio Rüdiger and Denzel Dumfries.
Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Arda Güler, Bernardo Silva and Thiago Pitarch. Forwards: Endrick, Kylian Mbappé, Carlos Espí, Brahim Díaz and Yan Diomande.
The 23-player group includes a broad set of options across the defence and midfield, with Militão listed among eight defenders. His return is the clearest availability development in the announcement, though the list itself offers no further detail on how Mourinho intends to use him.
Sevilla visit the Bernabéu on Sunday
Real Madrid are scheduled to host Sevilla on Sunday, 18 October, at the Bernabéu. The match is listed for 21:00 CEST, and Mourinho will decide whether Militão is involved based on his assessment and the circumstances of the contest.

For now, the squad call-up marks a return to the match group rather than a confirmed comeback on the pitch. A comfortable scoreline late in the evening would create the clearest opening for the limited minutes described in the report.
