The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved two new undergraduate programmes in Aviation Management and Aerospace Engineering at Baze University, Abuja, effective from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval marks a significant step in the university’s expansion into aviation and aerospace education, complementing the ongoing development of its dedicated Aviation School on a site covering more than 88 hectares in Bwari, Federal Capital Territory.
The approval was conveyed in a letter dated October 16, 2026, signed by Dr Ayuba Mohammed, Acting Director of Academic Planning at the NUC.
According to the commission, the programmes are authorised to operate on a full-time basis at the university’s main campus in Abuja.
The NUC said the approval followed a resource verification exercise by a panel of experts, who assessed the human and material resources available for the proposed programmes, as well as an inspection of the Aviation School.
The commission’s Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, subsequently approved the establishment of the programmes after considering the panel’s report.

Aviation Management will be domiciled in the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, while Aerospace Engineering will be offered under the Faculty of Engineering.
The new programmes are expected to broaden the university’s academic offerings in areas considered increasingly important to aviation development, technological innovation and the growing aerospace industry.
The approval also complements the development of Baze University’s Aviation School in Bwari, which is reportedly at an advanced stage of construction.
The facility reflects the university’s ambition to strengthen aviation education and training through specialised infrastructure and academic programmes designed to meet emerging professional and industry needs.
While the newly approved undergraduate programmes will operate at the university’s main campus, the Aviation School in Bwari represents a separate but complementary component of the institution’s broader investment in aviation-related education.
Together, the initiatives are expected to expand the university’s capacity to provide specialised training in aviation and aerospace fields, subject to the relevant regulatory approvals for the programmes and facilities concerned.
The programmes are scheduled to commence in the 2026/2027 academic session, marking another milestone in Baze University’s academic expansion and its drive to respond to evolving technological and professional demands.
