Pakistan Customs Hyderabad seized three oil tankers carrying petrol and high-speed diesel in separate operations after the vehicles failed to appear in the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) tracking system.
According to media reports, the tankers held a combined 20,000 litres of fuel. Customs officials estimated the total value of the vehicles and petroleum products at around Rs40 million.
Officials said the operations were triggered when no tracking record for the tankers could be found on the OGRA portal. Subsequent checks uncovered unexplained delays in delivery, broken or tampered seals, and irregularities in the accompanying documents.
Investigators also found that the consignees named on the delivery invoices did not match the locations where the fuel was actually being unloaded.
Customs said it is using digital monitoring to detect suspicious movement and verify petroleum deliveries. Officials said the OGRA tracking app has strengthened field surveillance and helped curb the illegal transport of fuel.
Verification of the seized tankers and their cargo is under way, and further legal action will follow under the law. Customs said its measures against smuggling, aimed at protecting the legal supply chain and enforcing compliance, will continue.
