For millions of viewers, Super Bowl LVII offered an introduction to Diana Flores. In the NFL’s Run With It campaign, the Mexican quarterback raced through the stadium, dodging one would-be flag puller after another. The commercial put Flores, and the sport she had played since childhood, in front of one of television’s biggest audiences.
Now, she is headed for an even bigger stage. Los Angeles 2028 had long been the dream. In August 2026, Flores helped turn it into reality.

Diana Flores and Mexico are headed to LA 2028
With Flores as captain and quarterback, Mexico defeated Great Britain 20–19 at the IFAF Flag Football World Championship in Düsseldorf. The victory brought home bronze and secured Mexico a place at LA 2028. When flag football makes its Olympic debut, Mexico will be on the field.
Flores started playing the sport at eight and joined Mexico’s national team at 16. At the World Games in 2022, she quarterbacked Mexico to gold, defeating the United States 39–6 in the final. Three years later, Mexico defended its title in Chengdu.

How Diana Flores became a global face of flag football
As the sport has grown, so has Flores’ place in it. The NFL and IFAF named her a Global Flag Football Ambassador, and she serves on IFAF’s Athletes’ Committee. Then came the NFL’s Emmy-winning Run With It Super Bowl campaign, with Flores at its center. The jersey and football she used in the commercial later entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame collection. She became the first flag football player represented there.
Flores was eight when she first picked up a flag football. Nearly two decades later, the sport is headed to the Olympics. Flores and Mexico are going with it.
