Union home minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Belur Math, the global headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, on Sunday.
Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari and BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya will accompany Shah. “We have been informed that the home minister is scheduled to arrive at Belur Math at 11.10am and will spend 40 minutes,” a monk of the order told Metro.
On Thursday, senior police officers and their CRPF counterparts met senior monks at the Math to draw up the security blueprint for Shah.
Sources said that while Shah has visited the city during Pujas for inaugurations in the past, his Sunday trip would be the first to Belur Math.
The Union home minister is scheduled to visit Deshbandhu Club in Bally after he visits Belur Math.
Several monks at the Math said the Saptami puja will be held on Sunday after an additional Sashthi puja on Saturday. “Visitors to the Math during the Puja will not be disturbed due to Shah’s visit,” a police officer said.
