The achievement adds another remarkable milestone to the forward’s growing collection of records in European football, underlining his ability to deliver consistently at the highest level regardless of the club he represents.
Mbappé previously scored 42 Champions League goals for Paris Saint-Germain before leaving the French capital for Real Madrid in 2024. His latest achievement means he has now reached the 25-goal mark for both clubs, a feat no player had accomplished before in the competition.
The record also highlights the extraordinary scoring rate he has maintained since making his Champions League debut with Monaco during the 2016/2017 season.
From Monaco to Paris and Madrid
Mbappé first announced himself on the European stage with Monaco, helping the club reach the Champions League semi-finals in the 2016/2017 campaign.
His performances attracted the attention of several major European clubs, and he joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, initially on loan before the move became permanent.
At PSG, the Frenchman developed into one of the most prolific attackers in world football. His pace, movement, dribbling and clinical finishing made him a constant threat to opposing defences, while his ability to score in crucial matches established him as the focal point of the club’s attack.
He eventually recorded 42 Champions League goals for the Parisian side, becoming one of their leading scorers in the competition.
Mbappé left PSG in 2024 to join Real Madrid, fulfilling a long-standing ambition to play for the Spanish club. Expectations were high following his arrival, given Madrid’s history in European football and the forward’s reputation as one of the game’s leading attackers.
His latest milestone demonstrates how quickly he has established himself as a major scoring force in Madrid’s Champions League campaign.
A prolific start to life at Real Madrid
Reaching 25 Champions League goals for Real Madrid further strengthens Mbappé’s growing reputation at the club.
His scoring form has been central to Madrid’s attacking threat, with his pace and ability to exploit spaces behind defenders providing an additional dimension to the team’s forward line.
The landmark also places his achievements in perspective. While many players have scored 25 or more Champions League goals for a single club, doing so for two different teams requires sustained excellence across separate spells, tactical systems and competitive environments.
Mbappé’s record of 42 goals for PSG and 25 for Real Madrid shows that his productivity has not been restricted to one club or league.
The forward has also continued to score at an impressive rate in the competition. According to UEFA’s statistics published on October 21, 2026, he had scored 73 goals in 101 Champions League appearances, including six goals for Monaco, 42 for PSG and 25 for Real Madrid.
Those figures place him among the competition’s most prolific scorers, despite being only 27 years old.
Mbappé joins the Champions League elite
Mbappé’s overall scoring record places him among a distinguished group of players who have made a lasting impact on European football.
Cristiano Ronaldo remains the Champions League’s all-time leading scorer, followed by Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema. Mbappé’s rise through the rankings reflects his remarkable output at an age when many forwards are still developing their careers.
He has also established himself as one of the most dangerous players in knockout football, having scored important goals for Monaco, PSG and Real Madrid.
His ability to perform across different stages of the competition has been a defining feature of his career. From his breakthrough with Monaco to his record-setting years in Paris and his new chapter in Madrid, Mbappé has consistently demonstrated the qualities required to compete at the highest level.
His latest achievement is particularly notable because it is based on goals scored for individual clubs rather than his overall Champions League total. It therefore offers a different measure of his consistency and adaptability.
Another milestone in a career still unfolding
For Real Madrid, Mbappé’s record provides further evidence of the attacking quality he brings to the team as the club pursues success in domestic and European competitions.
For PSG, his 42-goal record remains a significant part of his legacy in Paris, where he became one of the club’s most influential players during a period of sustained ambition in European football.
For France, the forward’s continued success at club level reinforces his status as one of the leading figures of his generation.
Although the record does not settle debates over the greatest player in Champions League history, it places Mbappé in a unique category of his own: the first player to score at least 25 goals for two different clubs in the competition.
At 27, with his Real Madrid career continuing to develop, the French forward has considerable time to add to his tally and pursue further milestones.
His journey from Monaco to PSG and now Real Madrid has already produced a collection of records, and the latest achievement further underlines his standing among the most prolific players of the modern Champions League era.
