Sheffield Wednesday have invited James Silverwood to join their board as a non-executive director.
The League One club have also introduced a fan advisory board (FAB).
As vice-chairman of the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust, Silverwood played a prominent role in attempts to oust Dejphon Chansiri as chairman, and as a counsel for the Storch family during their takeover of the club. He has since stepped up to the role of interim chairman of the trust, which he was a founder member of in 2019.
The Trust led boycotts of club merchandise and specific games, and black-and-gold protests. Chansiri put the club and its stadium into administation in October 2025.

Silverwood joins in a personal capacity, not as a representative of the trust, but his invitation is a positive sign of the Storchs ongoing commitment to improvement fan engagement since buying the club in May.
Despite that, Silverwood will consult with the trust before accepting.
The FAB is part of that too, and will hold its inaugural meeting on November 3.
The board will have three specialist sub-groups covering fan experience, ticketing, and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI), as well as new UK and International Supporters Collectives.
Chansiri held fans forums during his ten years as owner, but these were often more platforms for him to air his grievances, and the sense amongst the fanbase was that he took little notice of their concerns. Under Storch, there has been a sense of a more positive relationship between fans and owners of the club.
The Football Supporters’ Association has been involved in what the club call "a comprehensive consultation and selection process" to decide the make-up of the FAB. The Regional Supporters’ Groups Collective (UK), Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust, SWFC Women’s Supporters’ Group, Wise Old Owls, Rainbow Owls and Wednesday Voice are all represented. The club is committed to reporting back following each FAB meeting.
