UIS -Residents of Uis will have an opportunity to raise community concerns and hear about the plans of the newly proclaimed Uis Village Council during a series of public meetings in November.
In a public notice issued on 16 October, the council’s Chief Executive Officer, Julian Titus, announced that the meetings will take place in Uis, Tatamutsi and Uppertown from 2 to 4 November.
He says the first meeting is scheduled for Monday, 2 November, at 17h30 at Brandberg Rest Camp Hall in Uis.
Residents of Tatamutsi will meet the council on Tuesday, 3 November, at 17h00 in the open area where the election tent is erected.
The final meeting will take place on Wednesday, 4 November, at 17h00 at the Uppertown Community Hall.
According to the notice, these are the first public meetings since Uis was proclaimed a village council, marking the beginning of a new chapter in local governance.
The meetings will give residents an opportunity to hear directly from the council about its mandate, plans and priorities, while allowing them to raise issues affecting their neighbourhoods.
“These include concerns about services, infrastructure, land, housing, water, electricity, sanitation and local development,” the notice reads.
According to Titus, public meetings are important for building trust and cooperation between residents and their elected representatives.
“A council can only serve the community as well as the community it engages,” the notice states.
Residents have been encouraged to attend the meeting scheduled for their area and take part in discussions about the community’s needs.
The notice also invites residents to propose items for the meeting agendas. Submissions must be made through elected councillors before 29 October 2026.
