A 20-year-old student of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (Obuasi SHTS) has alleged that the school’s headmaster, Zakaria Abdulai, gave her GH¢100 to keep quiet after he allegedly raped her at his official residence on campus.
The allegation is contained in a press release issued by the Ashanti South Regional Police Command on October 16, 2026, detailing the complaint against the headmaster.
According to the police, the Form Two student reported the incident to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Obuasi on August 4, accompanied by her father.
She alleged that the incident occurred on July 25, 2026, after she went to a spot near the headmaster’s official residence to retrieve her dresses from where students dry their clothes.
The complainant told police that the headmaster allegedly lured her into his residence to undertake an errand for him.
The statement said that upon entering the residence, the headmaster allegedly began caressing and fondling her against her will before dragging her into his bedroom and forcibly having sexual intercourse with her.
She further alleged that after the incident, Mr Abdulai gave her GH¢100 to “seal her mouth”.
Police said investigations into the complaint included medical examination, reconstruction of the scene, photographs and witness statements.
The case docket has since been forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Office for study and advice.
