Santo Domingo.- French hotel group Accor is returning to the Dominican Republic, following investment promotion and institutional support efforts led by the Dominican Republic’s Export and Investment Center (ProDominicana) since January 2023.
According to ProDominicana Investment Director Zanony Severino, initial talks with Accor began during the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS) in Los Angeles in January 2023. The group later received a presidential invitation to explore investment opportunities in the country.
In January 2024, Accor formally identified the Dominican Republic as a strategic priority, expressing interest in projects in Pedernales and Punta Bergantín.
The relationship advanced further in July 2026, when Accor representatives participated in the Americas Investment Forum 2026, organized by ProDominicana and the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) in Santo Domingo.
Among Accor’s announced projects are the Swissôtel Santo Domingo, developed with Noval Properties as a mixed-use project featuring about 75 hotel rooms and 180 residences, and the Novotel Punta Cana Airport, a 105-room property expected to open in 2027. The Punta Cana project represents an estimated US$22 million investment.
Accor operates more than 5,800 hotels in over 110 countries and has a portfolio of more than 45 brands, including Swissôtel, Novotel, Sofitel, Fairmont, Pullman and ibis Styles.
ProDominicana said Accor’s return will help diversify the country’s hotel offering, strengthen tourism competitiveness and create opportunities for local businesses.
