ASML, a leading semiconductor-equipment manufacturer based in the Netherlands, has projected that demand for AI technology will surpass supply for the next two years. This statement comes as ASML considers expanding its production capacity beyond the planned 30% increase each year to meet the growing appetite for advanced AI chips. Customers are already expressing interest in securing orders for 2029 and 2030, underscoring the persistent demand. The company’s optimistic forecast for fourth-quarter 2026 sales, which exceed analyst expectations, suggests that the AI infrastructure bottleneck will not ease in the short term.

Key Takeaways

• ASML’s projection indicates sustained high demand for AI technology, which appears to boost confidence in AI-related sectors.
• Pricing trends suggest the market views ASML’s forecast as supportive of higher valuations for AI companies like Anthropic.
• The continued demand for AI chips aligns with market expectations of ongoing investment and interest in AI development.

What to Watch

Market participants will closely monitor ASML’s capacity expansion plans and their potential impact on the supply chain. Key announcements from AI companies, such as new funding rounds or strategic partnerships, could further influence market sentiment. Observers will also watch for updates from Anthropic and its strategic investors, such as Amazon and Google, which could drive valuation changes if they announce increased commitments or partnerships.
