Bankless co-founder David Hoffman shared a noteworthy prediction, stating that Zcash’s rise may not be over yet. Hoffman believes ZEC could reach 10% of Bitcoin’s market capitalization in the current cycle and 25% in the next.
However, Hoffman’s optimism towards Zcash is not new. His previous writings reveal the stages through which this view was formed.
In his May 9th assessment, Hoffman recalled that ZEC had risen from $56 to $700 in 41 days the previous year. He explained that due to the weakness that followed this movement, the rise might not be permanent and gave the impression of being a temporary bounce driven by a small group.

The second strong move seen in May changed his perspective. At the time, Hoffman noted that ZEC had risen by approximately 80 percent in the previous 30 days, arguing that a single rally wasn’t enough, but the second surge deserved closer examination.
He placed financial privacy at the heart of his optimism. According to Hoffman, the increasing capacity of AI-powered financial monitoring could boost demand for privacy technologies. He also believed that Zcash’s structure, which combined transparent and private transaction options, could provide an advantage in terms of corporate access.
A noteworthy detail is that he also discussed the scenario of Bitcoin reaching 10% of its market capitalization in the same May article. Therefore, this percentage is not a target that has been put forward for the first time today.
In his article published on September 23, Hoffman expanded on his thesis through capital movements. Comparing Zcash’s position in 2026 to Ethereum’s in 2021, he argued that even a small fraction of Bitcoin holders shifting their investments to ZEC could have a powerful impact on an asset with a smaller market capitalization.
