The Arizona Cardinals took on the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in Week 6. That’s where one of the most selfish plays of the season took place when Cardinals defensive lineman L.J. Collier tried to return a failed two-point conversion the length of the field.
Cardinals linebacker Josh Sweat sacked Matthew Stafford on the attempt and Stafford fumbled the ball. It was picked up by Collier who took off towards the other end zone surrounded by teammates. Collier did not even briefly consider giving the ball up despite the fact that he’s a 300-pound lineman and he was brought down about 35-yards short of his goal.

As Greg Olsen noted with great enthusiasm while it was happening, his teammates wanted him to pitch the ball. Cornerback Kei’Trel Clark was running alongside him the entire way.

Collier tried a spin move, but was taken down by Jordan Whittington. He immediately jumped up to celebrate even though all he’d done was cost his team a chance at two free points.
On the sideline afterwards he was all smiles while his teammates talked about how he should have pitched the ball.
The game went to halftime tied 9-9 and it may not matter when the final score is tallied, but when you’re on a 1-4 team you really can’t afford to leave points on the table by being selfish. And that’s exactly what Collier did here.
