Week 5 of the NFL season concluded with 13 Maryland football alumni seeing the field.
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Tai Felton received the largest opportunity of his young career against the New Orleans Saints.
Felton was named the wide receiver two on Sunday in Minnesota’s 23-13 win — He caught two passes on three targets for 27 yards from quarterback Kyler Murray. With veteran receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison dealing with injuries, it allowed Felton the opportunity to increase his impact.
For a third straight week, he was featured in the offense and not just restricted to special teams reps. Sunday marked his first career game where his playing time was offense only.
Felton saw 47 snaps out wide and in the slot in head coach Kevin O’Connell’s offense. The 23-year-old has played 125 offensive snaps through five games, already more than the 46 he received his rookie year.
The Vikings are 5-0 for the first time since 2024. It’s the second season they’ve reached this mark after 2016. Felton is building trust as a wideout, but will return to a rotational role once the room is fully healthy.
Minnesota has a Week 6 bye. The team returns to action at home Sunday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. ET against the Indianapolis Colts on CBS.
