A FORMER Temerloh district police chief was sentenced to eight months in prison by the Sessions Court here today after being found guilty of 46 charges of receiving RM69,600 in bribes.
Judge Sazlina Safie ruled that the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubt against the prosecution’s case against Mohd Azhar Mohd Yusoff, 56, at the end of the defence case.
“The prosecution has successfully proven all the elements of the offences under Section 165 of the Penal Code in respect of all 46 charges,” she said.
Azhar had pleaded not guilty on Sept 7, 2023, to all 46 charges involving the receipt of bribes between 2019 and 2023.
Section 165 of the Penal Code provides for a maximum prison sentence of two years, a fine, or both upon conviction. - October 21, 2026
