Korean Air (003490) and Asiana Airlines (020560) will waive change and refund fees on tickets to Paris after large-scale protests across France turned violent.
The two carriers decided to drop penalties for refunds and reservation changes on Paris-bound tickets purchased before the 21st, according to the airline industry on the 22nd.
The waiver covers flights departing between Oct. 21 and Nov. 30. Passengers must still pay any fare difference arising from a reservation change.
Round-trip Incheon-Paris-Incheon tickets also qualify, but one-way tickets booked only from Paris to Incheon are excluded.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a series of safety notices on its overseas travel safety website regarding the protests in France, urging travelers to avoid areas near demonstration sites.
Large-scale protests against high prices and deteriorating public services are under way in major French cities including Paris, Lyon and Marseille.
In some areas, demonstrators have clashed with police, and violence has broken out with incidents of arson and looting.
The French government has expanded security forces to prevent further violence and imposed overnight curfews in downtown districts where arson and looting have been concentrated.
