Bermudian martial artists won several medals at the Pan American Kung Fu Championships and Pan American Wushu Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Kaelin Cox and Garon Wilkinson won gold in the Two-Person Fighting Set.
Cox also won silver in the Group D [18-39] Spear division, while Jashae Allen-LaMontagne won gold in the Group D [18-39] Other Northern Style Form.
Wilkinson won bronze in the Group E [40-59] Flexible Weapon category, while Jecoa Burrows also won bronze in the Group E [40-59] Other Northern Style Form.
Jacob Goodwin won silver in the [15-17] 48kg division.
Talia Fox won bronze in the Group E [40-59] Taiji Openhand category, while Krista Dyer won gold in the women’s 75kg Sanda competition.
Tristan Robinson won gold in the boys’ [9-11] 65kg Sanda competition, while his younger sister Yara won gold in the [9-11] 26kg category without an opponent.
Wilkinson, president of the Bermuda Sanshou Association, said he was pleased with the team’s performances.
“We have several gold medal performances and podium performances,” he said.
“Our medal tally in traditional kungfu reflects our dominance and experience in the divisions.
“In Sanda, Krista Dyer showed her dominance in the region. It was a weight class heavier than her usual weight class, which we felt was correct for this particular competition.
“Tristan Robinson and his younger sister Yara also did a fantastic job.
“Jacob Goodwin, who made his Pan American debut, fought a very good match, ending up with a silver, while Michael Tristan Burgess made his debut in the adult division and did a really great job.”
