MOSCOW, October 11. /TASS/. The situation at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) remains tense, Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said.
"The situation at the Zaporozhye NPP remains complex and multifaceted. The main focus of attention is currently on negotiations to establish ceasefires, in which, along with Rosatom, representatives of law enforcement agencies, the foreign ministry, and the IAEA are participating," he said in a statement.
The situation at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power plant is generally routine, with its employees maintaining their composure and morale, Alexey Likhachev said.
"The overall situation at the nuclear plant is quite routine. Under these conditions, the staff is maintaining their composure and morale, even though attacks on our vehicles and the road connecting the plant to Energodar continue. The city continues to live and work despite constant drone attacks. Just two examples: on October 9, a drone destroyed a grocery store along with all its merchandise; on October 10, a kamikaze drone exploded in the immediate vicinity of medical unit No. 145, targeting the catering facility. We continue to support the city with all our strength and resources, helping with the delivery of food and building materials, carrying out repairs, and providing financial assistance. In short: [the safety] of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and Energodar is now our top priority," he said in a statement.
The Zaporozhye Thermal Power Plant’s (TPP) equipment needs urgent repairs to ensure power transmission to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant via the Ferrosplavnaya power line, Rosatom CEO said.
"The top priority is to repair the electrical equipment located on the territory of the Zaporozhye Thermal Power Plant, which transmits power from the Ferrosplavnaya line to the nuclear power plant. The systems are in poor condition, and they are constantly coming under fire from the Ukrainian army. Repairs are simply impossible under these circumstances. We have no right to send employees into the line of fire. We hope to negotiate a temporary ceasefire in the near future," he said in a statement.
Kiev has been using various pretexts to delay repairs at the Dneprovskaya power line, which has been out of service since March, Alexey Likhachev said.
"[It is important] to repair certain sections of the Dneprovskaya power line, which has been out of service since March. We fully repaired our section on the Russian side back in June. Kiev, however, has been delaying work on its section in every possible way under various pretexts. We hope that we will soon be able to reach an agreement on the parameters for the line’s prompt restoration," he said in a statement.
