Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has promised that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will focus on its achievements, policies and plans rather than personal attacks in its campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We are going to campaign based on what the APC leaders have done, not campaign full of insults,” he said.
The governor said the party would present its achievements to voters, outline its plans for the future and listen to the needs and aspirations of the people.
Yusuf gave the assurance during the inauguration of the management team of the APC 2027 Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council in Kano.
“Kano should garner a lot of votes for President Tinubu. The number of votes the APC gets in Kano should be the highest in the country. This is possible if you go out and campaign as required,” the governor said.
Yusuf explained that members of the campaign council were selected based on their capacity to discharge the responsibilities assigned to them, urging them to demonstrate commitment and dedication to the party’s success.
He challenged the council to work towards ensuring that Kano State recorded the highest number of votes for the APC in the country during the 2027 presidential election.
Describing the council members as political foot soldiers of the party, Yusuf urged them to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates across the state.
“The members of this council are APC soldiers, and I urge you to carry out your responsibilities with commitment and work towards the party’s victory,” he said.
The governor also cautioned members against being intimidated by opposition parties, urging them to remain confident and focused on their campaign activities.
He expressed confidence in the APC’s position in Kano State and called on party supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.
Yusuf further appealed to party members whose names were not included in the initial campaign council list not to feel discouraged, assuring them that additional appointments and subcommittees would be announced.
He urged all members to put aside personal interests, maintain unity and work collectively to strengthen the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
Under the appointments announced at the inauguration, Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo was named Director-General of the campaign council, while Hon. Bala Muhammad Gwagwarwa was appointed First Deputy Director-General.
Dr Yunusa Adamu Dangwani was appointed Deputy Director-General for Kano South, while Dr Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda and Senator Abdussalam Abdulkarim Zaura were named Deputy Directors-General for Kano North and Kano Central, respectively.
Dr Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure was appointed Assistant Director-General for Women Affairs, while Hon. Garba Yusuf Abubakar was named Assistant Director-General for Operations.
Other appointments were also announced as part of efforts to strengthen the council’s management and operational structure.
Prominent party stakeholders at the inauguration included Senators Kawu Sumaila and Barau Jibrin, as well as Dr Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure.
The inauguration marks a major step in the APC’s preparations to mobilise voters and consolidate its political presence in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
