The NFLPA has released a statement about the Jalen Hurts situation, and it seems they are not on the same page as the league.
Jalen Hurts being allowed to travel and then play when the medical staff reportedly knew about a blood clot has been one of the big talking points around the NFL in the past 10 days. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has been sidelined for at least the rest of the season as he begins treatment.
Many have questioned whether this was something the Eagles should have handled better. The NFL has reportedly concluded that the situation had been handled appropriately and that there is no punishment forthcoming for the medical staff. However, the Players’ Association seems far from convinced.
NFLPA says the NFL has not investigated the Jalen Hurts situation in latest statement
This matter is of the utmost concern for the players. In a sport as physical as football, being able to trust the medical team is of paramount importance. While the details of what happened in Philly aren’t clear to anyone, an exhaustive investigation into how he was allowed to play is an understandable demand.
The NFLPA is making that clear in their latest statement. NFL insider Ari Meirov shared their stance in a post on X.
“The NFLPA is not aware of any NFL investigation into the medical care provided to Jalen Hurts. In fact, the league previously informed the union that it did not plan to review the care he received,” the statement reads.
“Before conclusions are drawn about how this situation was handled, there must be a full investigation into what occurred. Determining the facts is essential to ensuring players receive the highest level of care and protection going forward.”
The entire NFL world is hoping that Hurts is able to recover from his issues, it would be extremely sad if this prematurely ended his career. In the meanwhile, making every effort to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again is definitely what the NFL and NFLPA will hopefully do.
