The Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK will return to Edinburgh on Thursday, November 12, 2026, with its Moving to Portugal Show and Seminars, bringing together property, legal, tax and financial specialists all under one roof to help Scottish residents explore the practicalities of living and investing in Portugal.
Taking place at The Scotsman Hotel in central Edinburgh, this free-to-attend event offers a full programme of seminars alongside opportunities to meet experienced professionals, ask questions and explore the different regions and lifestyles Portugal has to offer.
From retirement and property purchases to residency, taxation and financial planning, the show is designed to help visitors understand what is involved in making a move, whether they are just beginning to explore the idea or already preparing to relocate.
A programme shaped by Scottish interests
The Chamber has drawn on insights from its previous Edinburgh Show in 2025 to help inform this year’s programme, with particular attention given to the practical considerations of establishing a life in Portugal.
Residency and visa requirements were the most frequently requested subjects among Edinburgh registrants in 2025, attracting interest from 76% of respondents. This suggests that many Scottish visitors are considering Portugal as somewhere to establish a more permanent home, rather than simply as a destination for holidays.
Property prices, taxation and legal matters were also among the leading areas of interest in 2025, highlighting the importance of understanding the financial and administrative implications of relocating.
In response, this year’s seminar programme will cover subjects including cross-border tax planning, retirement and pensions, residency and immigration, buying property, international payments and investment opportunities.
Visitors will hear directly from Portugal specialists and can then discuss in private with them how the rules and considerations may apply to their individual circumstances.
Discovering different sides of Portugal
Choosing where to live after your move will also be an important consideration for many visitors.
While the Algarve remains one of the most popular destinations among prospective movers, the Chamber’s 2025 Edinburgh audience demonstrated particularly strong interest in exploring other parts of Portugal.
Porto and northern Portugal attracted interest from 43% of respondents at the 2025 event, the highest proportion recorded across all the Chamber’s Moving to Portugal shows.
Visitors to this year’s event will be able to explore the different aspects of Portugal’s regions, from the Algarve’s established international communities and coastal lifestyle to the cities, towns and countryside of central and northern Portugal.
The show will also provide opportunities to learn more about property for sale, purchasing procedures and the costs associated with buying and maintaining a home.
Meet the experts
A central feature of the Moving to Portugal Show is the chance to speak directly with professionals experienced in helping international clients navigate the Portuguese market.
Organisations involved in the Edinburgh Show include Forvis Mazars, Multi Family Wealth and Multi Family Office, Blacktower Financial Management, Garvetur Real Estate, Belli International Real Estate, Ramos Correia Lawyers, Portugal Pathways, TPMC and Currencies 4 You.
The event will cover a wide range of subjects, including legal requirements, tax planning, property purchases, investments, pensions and transferring money internationally.
Alongside the formal seminar programme, visitors will be able to have individual conversations with participating organisations, helping them identify the next steps in their plans and understand which professional advice they may require.
Insights from people who have already made the move
The Edinburgh show will also provide opportunities to hear first-hand experiences from Scottish people who have already relocated to Portugal.
Their experiences will offer a practical perspective on the decisions involved in choosing a location, settling into a new community and adjusting to everyday life.
Combining these personal insights with professional advice, the Chamber aims to give visitors a clearer understanding of both the opportunities and responsibilities involved in relocating.
