WALVISBAY – a Local company 54 Africa Investments hosted its inaugural industry dialogue in Kuisebmund, Walvis Bay, bringing together about 70 participants to discuss opportunities in mining, logistics and energy.
The event, held on 12 October, attracted small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), industry leaders, students, financial institutions, local authorities and the Erongo governor, Nathalia /Goagoses.
54 Africa Investments founder and chief executive officer Sakeus Ferisiano urged young Namibians to take responsibility for the country’s development instead of waiting for others to create opportunities.
“We cannot continue waiting for people to come and build our country. We must build our country ourselves,” he said.
Ferisiano encouraged young people to prioritise knowledge, learn from successful industry players and apply what they learn to establish businesses and create opportunities.
/Goagoses highlighted the importance of local ownership and beneficiation, saying Namibia should maximise the value derived from its natural resources to support local economic development.
A panel discussion brought together representatives from the mining, logistics, energy and finance sectors to discuss business opportunities, access to finance and the participation of SMEs in major industries. The discussion also focused on connecting emerging businesses with established companies and creating opportunities for greater local participation in the economy. The dialogue forms part of 54 Africa Investments’ efforts to connect businesses, investors and industry players to promote industrial development and economic opportunities.
The company plans to hold the industry dialogues monthly as part of preparations for the 54 Africa Minerals and Energy Indaba, scheduled to take place in Walvis Bay in 2027.
According to the company, the platforms aim to strengthen SMEs, encourage young people to participate in key industries and promote local involvement in Namibia’s industrial development.
