SARGODHA, Oct 14 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry directed the Parks and Horticulture Agency (PHA) to implement effective measures for the restoration of public parks, green belts, and the historic Company Bagh to provide enhanced recreational facilities to citizens.
He issued these directives on Wednesday during a surprise visit to the PHA office, where Director Muhammad Arshad Wattoo and other senior officials were also in attendance.
According to a spokesperson, during the visit, the deputy commissioner inspected various office branches and reviewed staff attendance and presence. He instructed officials to ensure regular pruning of trees and plants, proper maintenance of green belts, and the ongoing beautification of city parks.
He further ordered immediate steps to improve both gates of Company Bagh, restore its lighting system, make the children’s playland fully functional, and organize a family festival. Stressing the enhancement of city monuments, fountains, and green belts, he noted that parks must be developed into attractive recreational spaces, particularly for families.
The DC also directed the PHA administration to formulate a viable plan for establishing a family garden along Lahore Road.
Earlier, during a departmental briefing, officials informed the deputy commissioner about various ongoing initiatives aimed at maintaining green belts and enhancing the city’s aesthetic appeal. Plans for installing decorative firefly lights beneath trees along the canal—stretching from 47 Pull to the vicinity of Chungi No. 9—were also discussed.
The deputy commissioner was further briefed on relevant development projects, departmental responsibilities, and the transparent utilization of government funds.
