- Google’s promotional AI Pro trials exclude Argon and Claude 5.5 in Antigravity, affecting eligible Pixel buyers, Googlebook owners, and students.
- Trials also miss YouTube Premium Lite and Google Store rewards, despite sharing the AI Pro name with paid subscriptions.
- Google has an online form to switch from a trial to a paid Pro plan and says it’s working to improve the process.
Six months of free AI Pro is a useful sweetener when you’re buying a pricey Pixel, especially when Google values the Pixel 11 Pro’s included subscription at almost $120. For anyone already interested in Google’s premium AI tools, that could help justify the phone’s price. You’d also reasonably expect to get the same Pro experience as someone paying for the subscription separately. But the latest Gemini 4 Argon rollout is leaving some buyers wondering why their Pro subscription doesn’t unlock the same features as someone else’s.
Following Argon’s broader release, Google announced that the model is rolling out in Antigravity to “paid Google AI Pro subscribers.” Eligible users receive a separate weekly Argon allowance in addition to their existing Gemini 3.8 Flash quota. But subscribers on free promotional trials don’t qualify, including those who got Pro through Pixel purchases or student offers.
