WASHINGTON, D.C., October 21, 2026: Prince George’s County Councilwoman At-Large Wala Blegay will lead a Maryland–Liberia Trade Mission from October 29 to November 5, 2026, aimed at strengthening economic cooperation, attracting investment and creating jobs.
The delegation, comprising government officials, business executives and entrepreneurs, will explore opportunities in agriculture, technology, healthcare, tourism, mining, environmental services and workforce development.
Speaking during a meeting with Liberia’s Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh, Blegay said the mission seeks to transform diplomatic agreements into practical business partnerships.
“We are bringing businesses with specific proposals and looking to create partnerships that generate lasting opportunities for both Liberia and Maryland,” she said.
According to the Liberian Embassy, participating companies include LIBHANA Produce and The Troutman Management LLC, which will explore agricultural production, processing and exports, particularly mangoes and pineapples.
U.S. Refuse LLC will assess waste management and recycling opportunities, while Femdel LLC will pursue partnerships in telecommunications, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure.
The Juxtopia Group and JUICE Network will explore healthcare technology and workforce training, while Clear Kayak Liberia and Kairos Kids Collection will promote tourism and cultural exchanges.
Other participants include MOI-JEY LLC and The Image Consulting Group, with Legacy Premier Foundation coordinating the mission.
The government delegation is expected to include Prince George’s County Council Chair Krystal Oriadha, Council Member Edward Burroughs III and Dr. Akilah S. Alleyne of Maryland’s Office of the Secretary of State.
Ambassador Conteh welcomed the initiative, describing it as an opportunity to implement the Maryland–Liberia Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 24, 2026.
He said arrangements are underway for meetings with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, legislative leaders, relevant government ministries and private-sector institutions.
Blegay emphasized that the mission’s success would be measured by the partnerships and investment opportunities identified rather than immediate financial commitments.
“Our goal is to connect the right people and institutions, identify viable projects, and create a pathway for continued collaboration after the delegation returns,” she said.
The mission is expected to strengthen Liberia’s economic ties with Maryland while opening opportunities for trade, investment and employment.
