Garmin has announced a new stable update for the recently released Fenix 9 smartwatch. With system software version 6.73, the company has tackled a range of bugs with the wearable’s maps, alarms and a music app.
The Garmin Fenix 9 system software 6.73 has been announced. This new smartwatch launched in August 2026. The stable release follows on from the September version 6.49 update, which tackled a bug which could cause the wearable to shut down unexpectedly.
With software version 6.73, Garmin Fenix 9 smartwatch users gain five more bug fixes. The company has resolved an issue where the alarm vibration setting would be switched off unexpectedly. Two further bugs which could make the watch to shut down during the HIIT activity and when viewing maps have been fixed.
Garmin has also looked at two Spotify related problems. The first could cause the audio to stutter or drop out. The second could lead the smartwatch to shut down when the user attempted to switch between Spotify playlists.
Garmin Fenix 9 software version 6.73 has been announced in a post on the brand’s official forum. This informs users of the new smartwatch that they must manually check for updates at this time. To do so, you can go to Menu > Watch Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. Otherwise, Garmin has stated that it plans to begin the typical rollout process for this release for the Fenix 9 smartwatch (Titanium, 43mm, Pebble Gray curr. $999.99 at Amazon) “soon”.
