Two-time WNBA All-Star Chiney Ogwumike has been speaking very highly of Angel Reese when appearing on First Take this week.
Reese has had a fantastic WNBA Finals so far, helping her team take a 2-1 series lead into Game 4 this weekend.
Despite the Finals still potentially having four more games to go, there is already talk that the Atlanta Dream star will be the MVP, with Ogwumike among those backing her to win the award.
When speaking to ESPN, she said: “The ‘A’ in Atlanta right now stands for Angel Reese and through three games, she’s my Finals MVP. No question about it. What she’s been able to do has been truly impressive.
“She’s averaging over 21 and 13 so far in the WNBA Finals. But more importantly, her team is 15-0 when she knocks down a three.”
Ogwumike continued by telling Stephen A. Smith, who was part of the discussion on First Take, that ‘people might be sleeping on the fact’ Reese completely reconstructed her shot in the middle of the season.
She said: “Stephen A. people might be sleeping on the fact that she completely reconstructed her shot thanks to Karl Smesko in the middle of the season and now when it matters most, she knocked down two of them things on top of getting steals, going coast-to-coast.
“This is a 24-year-old young woman who might be on the precipice of winning, she already won Defensive Player of the Year, she could win a championship.”
The Dream and the Golden State Valkyries play Game 4 on Saturday. Reese heads into the matchup having just become the first player in WNBA history to record a double-double in her first three Finals games.
