The injuries have added to Dallas’ concerns following a disappointing night in which the Cowboys struggled offensively, committed several costly mistakes, and dropped to 2-4 on the season. However, fortunately X-rays for both players came back negative.
Winters went down with 13:36 remaining in the second quarter after sustaining an ankle injury. Dallas’ medical staff attended to him before he headed to the locker room for further evaluation.
The Cowboys initially listed Winters as questionable to return before ruling him out for the rest of the game. Before his departure, the linebacker made headlines by recording Dallas’ first interception of the season.
Meanwhile, Turpin exited the game before the Cowboys ran their first offensive play from scrimmage after injuring his ribs on the opening kickoff. He subsequently went to the locker room for evaluation. The Dallas team initially listed him as questionable before ruling him out for the remainder of the matchup.
Turpin’s absence represents a significant setback for Dallas because of his contributions to the team’s return game. He entered the game with 549 kick return yards through five games.
Dallas will now closely monitor both players’ recovery as the team prepares for its upcoming divisional matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
