SEOUL: Singer and actor Lee Joon has revealed that he was once rushed to hospital after suffering extreme exhaustion while juggling up to five work schedules a day at the height of his K-pop career.
The 38-year-old also surprised fans by disclosing that, despite working relentlessly and enjoying massive popularity, he had no savings because all his earnings went towards helping his family overcome severe financial difficulties.
"I once had to handle as many as five work schedules in a single day," he said during an appearance on the variety show Moo No Plan 4, produced by MBN and Channel S.
Lee recalled nearly fainting during a filming session because of his punishing routine, which prompted crew members to rush him directly to the emergency department for treatment.
His revelation came after social media personality Kwak Tube asked whether he had managed to accumulate assets or savings during his successful years as a singer, given his immense workload.
Lee explained that his earnings had been used entirely to settle his family's debts and tackle their financial problems, leaving him with virtually nothing despite his personal sacrifices.
"My family was going through a severe financial crisis at the time," he said. "So, all the money I earned during that period was spent helping them."
Lee first rose to fame in 2009 as a member of the K-pop boy band MBLAQ.
Since then, he has successfully transitioned into acting, establishing a firm footing in the South Korean entertainment industry.
