LG Uplus (032640.KS) showcased artificial intelligence-based next-generation Wi-Fi technology at Europe's largest telecommunications and networking exhibition.
The company said on the 16th that it took part in Network X 2026, a global telecom and networking exhibition held at the Messe Wien exhibition center in Vienna, Austria. Network X brings together global telecom carriers and network equipment makers to share next-generation communications technology and industry trends.
At the event, LG Uplus introduced a quality management technology that uses AI to analyze Wi-Fi quality data and identify customer disruptions in advance. The AI analyzes network quality data collected from access points to pinpoint the causes of performance degradation and can alert customers to problems before they experience any disruption.
The company also presented results from a proof-of-concept test of edge AI technology based on Wi-Fi 8. Edge AI refers to technology in which AI directly analyzes and optimizes network conditions on a router equipped with a neural processing unit. Its defining feature is that the network can be managed on the router itself without going through a cloud server. The company plans to advance the technology so that AI can eventually identify the causes of faults on its own and restore service automatically.
"Through this exhibition, we introduced our AI-based network operations technology and next-generation Wi-Fi technology to the global industry," said Lee Jin-hyuk, senior vice president and head of LG Uplus' Consumer Service Development Lab. "We will continue to develop related technologies to provide stable network services that customers can feel the difference in."
