The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has urged members to set aside personal ambitions and unite behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, saying the campaign will centre on the administration’s record and plans for the future.
Yari gave the assurance on Wednesday in Abuja while accepting his appointment following the inauguration of the council by the President.
He said engagement with voters, traditional rulers and religious leaders would focus on what the administration had accomplished and what it intended to deliver if returned to office.
“As we start going around to royal fathers and clerics, this is the message I have been sending today: our campaign is going to be centred on what you have done and what you are going to do in the future,” he said.
The former Zamfara State governor said securing another term for Tinubu required cooperation across the council, warning against allowing individual interests to obstruct its assignment.
“It’s no time for ego. We are all one in this business. We have only one agenda. What is that agenda? To ensure that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu returns as President,” he said.
He commended the President for what he described as progress in infrastructure and interventions benefiting ordinary Nigerians, stressing that the record would give campaigners a strong basis for seeking votes.
“You have touched the life of an ordinary man. You have been there in infrastructure, building the iron road as if the money is nothing,” he said.
He assured Tinubu that council members would approach the assignment with commitment and work together to achieve its objective.
“We are going to do it all honestly with the trust and, by God’s grace, we are going to deliver,” he said.
He urged party leaders and other stakeholders to close ranks and strengthen mobilisation from polling units and wards to local governments and states.
He also described women as central to the party’s electoral efforts, citing what he said were the appointments of eight female ministers and women heading federal agencies as examples of the administration’s support for their participation in government.
He said campaigners would seek to translate those appointments and other opportunities for women into electoral support.
He pledged to work with every member of the council and expressed confidence in achieving the desired outcome by the election date stated in his address.
“I, Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, as Director-General of this campaign, Mr President, I will do my best, and I will work with each and every member of this council to ensure that the result becomes a successful one by the 16th of January 2027, inshallah,” he said.
