The Electronic City Division police have arrested a life convict who had been absconding for nearly six years after failing to return to prison following the expiry of his parole.
The accused, Narasimha Reddy, was arrested on October 15, 2026, after the police traced him to Chickballapur district, a release stated.
Reddy was convicted in a murder case registered by the Pavagada police in Tumakuru district. The trial court sentenced him to life imprisonment on February 28, 2015, under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
While serving his sentence at the Bengaluru Central prison, Reddy was granted 30 days of parole. He subsequently obtained an extension, but failed to surrender to the prison authorities when the extended parole ended on November 26, 2019, and went absconding.
