Arsenal travelled to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest, knowing they had failed to win there in their previous two visits. The Gunners were aware of the challenge awaiting them, especially with Forest determined to avoid defeat against them once again.
Although Forest have a new manager, their determination to frustrate Arsenal remained clear. Mikel Arteta’s side are competing with a strong Manchester City team in the Premier League title race, making every match crucial as they look to win the competition again.
Madueke rescues Arsenal against Forest
Arsenal knew they needed three points to keep pace with City, but securing the victory proved difficult. Forest looked dangerous, particularly in attack, and the Gunners struggled to impose themselves as they would have wanted.
Given the hosts’ performance, Arsenal might have considered themselves fortunate to escape with another goalless draw. However, Noni Madueke found the breakthrough late in the game, scoring with a deflected effort to secure a vital win for the visitors.
The goal provided Arsenal with a valuable result at a ground where they had struggled in recent seasons. It also highlighted the importance of persistence in a match where clear opportunities were difficult to create.

Raya praises Arsenal’s determination
David Raya acknowledged that Arsenal had to work harder than usual to claim victory. Speaking to Arsenal Media, he praised the team’s character and determination to keep pushing until they found a breakthrough.
“(We showed) maturity and a lot of desire.
“Keep doing the right things, and the ball will get into the net. We had experiences in the last two years where we drew 0-0 here, so I think we showed a lot of character to keep digging the result, and in the end with a few crosses and a few of Bukayo’s balls, the ball went in thanks to Noni.
“He’s a special player and it’s going to be a special goal for him to get the win at such a difficult ground and such a difficult team. So, I’m delighted for him.”
With Manchester City providing strong competition in the title race, Arsenal will know that grinding out victories in challenging away fixtures could prove crucial to their ambitions this season.
