Balatonlelle, Fonyód and Badacsony are preparing a joint Advent event for December 12, with one special feature: visitors will be able to travel by boat between the three lakeside towns.
The collaboration between the three towns will create a new Advent event on Lake Balaton that not only connects local Christmas markets and activities but also makes the lake itself part of the festive experience.
On December 12, visitors will be welcomed by Advent programs and Christmas markets in Balatonlelle, Fonyód and Badacsony, with BAHART boats providing connections between the three locations, Turizmus.com reports.
The aim of the initiative is to make Lake Balaton an attractive destination beyond the summer months. The organisers want to create a winter event worth travelling to, whether from other towns in the region or from further afield.
One of the event’s greatest strengths lies in the differences between the three towns.
Balatonlelle will welcome visitors as a festive meeting point on the southern shore, offering family activities, Christmas atmosphere, a bustling market and an artificial ice rink.
Fonyód, known as the winter capital of Lake Balaton, will join the event with special Advent programs, a lakeside winter atmosphere and an artificial ice rink, bringing together sport, entertainment and festive experiences.

Badacsony will complete the three-stop Lake Balaton experience with its distinctive combination of hills, lake views and wine-country charm, welcoming visitors with unique culinary and cultural programs.
According to the organizers, what makes the event truly special is not simply that three towns are hosting Advent activities, but that visitors will be able to travel from one location to another by boat.
This means
participants could explore three different festive destinations in a single day, while the boat journey across Lake Balaton itself becomes part of the experience.
The initiative was launched at the suggestion of Balázs Tóth, its originator and chief organizer.
The aim of the collaboration is for the three towns and Lake Balaton’s boat services to work together to create a new regional Advent event that extends beyond the boundaries of individual towns, bringing separate programs together into one shared winter experience on Lake Balaton.
The event is planned as the beginning of a new tradition.
If it receives a positive response from visitors and the participating towns, the organizers hope to develop it further in the coming years and eventually transform it into a comprehensive winter program connecting multiple destinations around Lake Balaton.
