The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says more than 10,000 housing units are under construction across 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope housing programme.
Idris said the initiative was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to expand access to affordable homes and improve living standards across the country.
The minister spoke on Friday in Abuja at the 20th Anniversary Gala and Award Night of Abuja Property Development Company (APDC) Limited, where he highlighted government investments in housing and mortgage financing.
“Through the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme, the administration has advanced housing projects across the country, with more than 10,000 housing units commenced across 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory,” Idris said.
He added that the projects demonstrated “the importance of sustained investment, effective partnerships and innovative financing in making homeownership more accessible to Nigerians.”
Idris, a former chairman of APDC’s Board of Directors, congratulated the company on its 20th anniversary and commended its management, staff and stakeholders for their contributions to its growth.
He urged property developers to maintain high standards, plan responsibly and ensure their projects meet the needs of families and communities.

“Property development goes beyond putting up buildings. It involves creating spaces where families can live, businesses can grow, and communities can thrive,” the minister said.
He added that well-planned developments contribute to urban growth, create employment and support economic activity.
At the event, APDC presented Idris with an award in recognition of his service as former chairman of its Board of Directors.
The award plaque acknowledged his leadership during two tenures and credited his stewardship with contributing to the company’s development, structure and reputation.
The minister expressed optimism that APDC would build on its two decades of experience to support Abuja’s development through quality housing and responsible property development.
Other dignitaries at the event included the Group Managing Director of Abuja Investment Company Limited, represented by Dr Abiodun Akambi; APDC Acting Managing Director Akeem Aderogba; and former APDC Managing Director Lawal Magaji, alongside company executives, management and staff.
