Renova, Sysav and Öresundskraft will receive the money, which will be distributed through a so-called reverse auction, in which the companies compete to deliver negative emissions at the lowest possible cost.
"The reverse auction makes it possible for the actors that achieve the greatest climate benefits to access public funds," says Carl Mikael Strauss, head of a unit at the authority, in a press release.
"Energy recovery from waste already serves an important function in society. With CCS, we can also significantly reduce emissions and create permanent negative emissions on a large scale," says Malin Dahlroth, CEO of Sysav, in another press release.
