This prehistoric survival city-builder, loved by 86% of players, is 50% off on Steam

In Dawn of Man, a survival city-builder, the gameplay isn't limited to a single historical period but spans more than 10,000 years. It begins in the Stone Age and ends in the Iron Age, and your role will be to ensure the survival of your people throughout these eras.

From the creators of Planetbase, this game lets you build houses and other structures to meet the needs of your people. You can also explore the surroundings in search of resources, such as berries, fruit, water, and wood.

Hunting and fishing will be essential to your survival, but the wilderness is full of dangers. For example, while hunting a mammoth, you might come face-to-face with a cave lion. However, animals aren't the only dangers. The game also features changing seasons, and winter can be particularly harsh. Make sure you have enough resources and food to survive it.

Every discovery you make will help your colony grow, but it also brings new challenges. Finally, don't forget to build fortifications to protect against potential threats.

With 86% of its 17,902 reviews on Steam being positive, many players highlight its balanced gameplay. Players also appreciate its building mechanics and its prehistoric world. However, according to some players, the developers are no longer adding new content. As a result, some also criticize its lack of depth and the presence of unresolved bugs.

Finally, until October 26, 2026, Dawn of Man is available for $12.49 instead of $24.99 on Steam. But according to SteamDB, this game has been cheaper before. It was available for $8.74 on November 7, 2025, during a 65% off sale.
