Six juveniles were apprehended on Sunday in connection with an attempted murder case in Kasimedu, where a 28-year-old fisherman was allegedly attacked with knives over previous enmity.
According to the police, S. Gautham, 28, a resident of Jeevarathinam Nagar in Kasimedu, had previous enmity with one Narveen.
On October 10, when Gautham was walking near Sengalamman Koil Park in Kasimedu, Narveen and some of his friends allegedly waylaid him, hurled abuses at him and attacked him with knives with the intention of killing him before fleeing the scene.
Gautham sustained bleeding injuries and is undergoing treatment at Government Stanley Medical College Hospital. Based on his complaint, the Kasimedu police registered a case under attempted murder and other relevant sections, and launched an investigation.
The police apprehended and questioned six juveniles allegedly involved in the attack. They included three 17-year-olds, two 16-year-olds and one 15-year-old. Three knives allegedly used in the crime were seized from them.
Police are continuing efforts to trace three other suspects who remain absconding, including Narveen. After questioning, the six juveniles were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board on Sunday and, as per its order, were lodged in a government observation home.
