SUWON — Gyeonggi Province is rolling out follow-up support for game companies that took part in PlayX4, the Seoul metropolitan area's flagship game show, to help turn exhibition exposure into business results.
The province said on the 21st that it will host G-Game Connect 2026 on the 27th at the international conference hall of the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation in Pangyo, Seongnam.
The event is a follow-up program to the 2026 PlayX4, held in May this year. Rather than ending with exhibitions and consultations, it aims to help game companies in the province secure tangible outcomes such as contracts, investment and overseas publishing deals.
The program focuses on strengthening the business competitiveness of game companies and nurturing future talent. At a recruitment session, Pearl Abyss will present hiring information for the game industry and guidance on preparing for jobs in the sector.
Industry practitioners from Bluehole Studio, Mad Engine and Hypercent will also join job-specific talk shows. They plan to share field experience in development, planning and operations, along with tips on preparing for each role, with young job seekers.
One-on-one employment and career counseling sessions are also planned. Six game companies, including Pearl Abyss and Bluehole Studio, will take part, offering job mentoring and practical feedback to aspiring developers and job seekers.
A specialist seminar will address new growth strategies for the game industry. Jin Jung-woo, a project manager at Naver Webtoon, will present cases of game businesses built on webtoon intellectual property.
Kim Ji-in, chief executive of Grampus, will discuss building proprietary IP and brand growth strategies. Lee Min-jung, a director at Redbrick House, will speak on global publishing strategy and how game content can translate into results in overseas markets.
The venue will also host business matching between PlayX4 participants and buyers from Korea and abroad. Game demonstrations and showcases will highlight the market potential of promising titles while opening the door to follow-up opportunities such as investment and publishing deals.
"Growth for game companies is not complete at the exhibition hall; it is complete when it leads to results in the market," said Hyun Byung-chun, director general of the province's Future Growth Industry Bureau. "We will support promising companies discovered at PlayX4 so they can expand their sales channels and secure new opportunities through G-Game Connect."
