Sarah Court says ASIC is investigating the Big Four’s complaints and whistleblower processes, with findings expected before the end of the year.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has revealed it broadly supports the government’s suggestions to reform accounting regulation, including boosting enforcement and disciplinary rules.
In a lunchtime address to chief financial officers and accountants, ASIC chair Sarah Court highlighted the need for the regulator to have a wider range of powers to deal with the Big Four accounting firms.
Court said the regulator was still investigating all of the larger firms and their complaints and whistleblower processes following the whistleblower controversy surrounding KPMG Australia.
