Muscat : Construction work is currently underway on the Bandar Al Khairan Walkway project, being implemented by Muscat Municipality as part of its efforts to develop public facilities and enhance the area’s tourism and recreational offerings.
Engineer Khalfan bin Khalifa Al Busaidi, Director General of Muscat Municipality, explained that the 1,900-metre-long Bandar Al Khairan Walkway project has reached 30 percent completion and is expected to be finished in the second quarter of 2027.
He stated that the project includes three viewing points, eight shaded areas, designated seating and rest areas, a bicycle path, and landscaping and lighting, all designed to complement the site’s natural features and environmental characteristics.
Al Busaidi noted that the project’s design and implementation have taken into account the preservation of the site’s natural environment and its unique characteristics, given its location within a nature reserve.
This has been achieved by harmonising the project’s components with the area’s natural features and minimising any potential impact on the surrounding environment.
Al Busaidi said the project aims to provide integrated facilities for sports and recreational activities, meeting the needs of the area’s residents and visitors, and contributing to improving quality of life and encouraging outdoor activities.
Engineer Khalfan bin Khalifa Al Busaidi added that the project represents a qualitative addition to the tourism facilities in Muscat Governorate, by highlighting the natural features that distinguish Bandar Al Khairan and enhancing its appeal as a tourist and recreational destination, thus contributing to stimulating tourism and achieving a balance between tourism development and preserving the natural environment.
