The Parliamentary Committee on Physical Infrastructure has concluded its month-long investigation into the rollout of the controversial Intelligent Transport Monitoring System (ITMS) digital number plates, with legislators now scheduling a final meeting with President Yoweri Museveni before presenting their report.
The inquiry, which commenced in early September, was chaired by Mbarara City South Member of Parliament, Mr. Mwine Mpaka. During the probe, the committee interfaced with at least 19 stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to assess how Russian firm Joint Stock Global Company Security (JSGCS) secured the 10-year contract and executed the installation of digital plates on motor vehicles and motorcycles.
