Chaos broke out at the ‘Rock N Rhythm 5: No Limits in the Zone’ concert at Jamuna Future Park in the capital on Friday evening, as thousands of people reportedly breached security barriers and entered without tickets before popular rock star James and his band Nagar Baul took the stage.
The uncontrolled entry left many ticket-holders frustrated, with overcrowding and disorder preventing them from enjoying the concert as expected.
As the situation spiralled out of control, the organisers were forced to open the main gates, further fuelling dissatisfaction among those who had paid for tickets.
A person who entered without a ticket said it had taken considerable effort to get inside. Another person standing beside him was seen holding equipment used for smoking cannabis and displaying it in front of a camera.
Videos circulating on social media showed people chanting “fraud” amid the disorder. One attendee complained that the event was poorly managed and that many people had entered without tickets.
Another video appeared to show security personnel holding and beating an attendee.
Police were deployed to manage the situation and tried to clear overcrowded areas around the concert entrances.
