PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) seats won at the last election will be contested by the parties that currently hold them, including DAP’s Ayer Keroh seat, says PKR's Azman Abidin.
The political secretary to the prime minister said this was agreed during discussions among PH leaders in Melaka and dismissed claims that PKR would take over the Ayer Keroh seat from DAP.
“Perhaps media reports quoting PKR as saying it would contest Ayer Keroh were based on a misunderstanding.
"The statement about the Ayer Keroh seat referred to a PH component party contesting it, not PKR specifically,” he told FMT.
Azman, who is also the federal territories PKR chief, stressed that relations among PH component parties remain harmonious and that all parties would work as a team in facing the Melaka state election.
Melaka DAP leader Kerk Chee Yee had earlier questioned a PKR leader’s call for the party to contest Ayer Keroh, which is considered a DAP stronghold.
Kerk, who had represented Ayer Keroh since 2018 until the state assembly was dissolved last month, said PH’s seat negotiations in Melaka had been concluded.
