Hollywood actor Chris Pratt has confirmed that his character Star-Lord will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), though he stopped short of revealing when the superhero will make his comeback.
Pratt, best known for playing Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, said he has been in ongoing discussions with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and executive Louis D’Esposito about the character’s return, Variety reported.
“I have a great relationship with Kevin and Lou, and there have been both ongoing conversations about how we make good on that promise and also hard action taken to make sure that we make good on that promise,” Pratt said on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast.
“So yeah, you’ll see Star-Lord again, which is very exciting, but I’m not at liberty to say when that’s going to be, but he’s not going anywhere.”
The confirmation comes months after Pratt revealed that he had pitched an idea for Star-Lord’s return to Feige and D’Esposito.
During an earlier appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor had expressed his eagerness to reprise the role and contribute to the franchise's future.
“I’m happy to do anything they want me to do and will... And also, I personally have a really strong vision of what I would want him to do. And I think it’s f*****g great.”
When asked whether he had already pitched the idea to Feige, Pratt said, “Yep. And I think that, you know, I’m down to contribute any way I can to them setting up the next 10 years of storytelling, you know? And also, I have a pretty strong idea of how I think I could contribute to that.”
Pratt’s Star-Lord, also known as Peter Quill, has appeared in three Guardians of the Galaxy films, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder.
Pratt’s comments come months before the theatrical release of Avengers: Doomsday, which will see many old Marvel characters coming back to the screen.
